Dental prophylaxis

Dental prophylaxis is the prevention of diseases of the teeth and periodontium and the proper cleaning of the oral cavity. With proper prophylaxis, the patient is in control of his or her teeth, and the dentist can minimise the risk of diseases and ailments by applying appropriate treatments.

Dental prophylaxis treatments:

Scaling

A method of tartar removal using an ultrasonic device. Tartar forms when bacterial plaque is not removed during daily oral hygiene. The treatment is combined with subsequent polishing of the teeth, which prevents the re-deposition of plaque.

Sandblasting

A treatment to remove discolouration caused by cigarettes, coffee and tea, performed with a special device - a dental sandblaster. It emits a thin stream of a mixture of water and air with sodium dioxide under high pressure. The procedure is completely painless and safe. It is recommended to be used at least twice a year.

Fluoridation

It is used in the prevention of dental caries and tooth sensitivity. It consists of coating the teeth with a preparation with a high fluoride content. It should be applied twice a year and also after tartar removal, sandblasting, teeth grinding and in periodontal disease.
